2025 Was a Turning Point for Dental Insurance
As we close out 2025, we want to thank our customers and partners for trusting LightSpun with some of the most critical operations in your organizations—and reflect on what changed this year, why it mattered, and what’s coming next.
Automate or Get Left Behind
In 2025, the dental insurance industry reached an inflection point.
Across the U.S., states accelerated dental insurance reform, passing dozens of new laws aimed at reducing administrative waste and increasing transparency. At the same time, dental loss ratio (DLR) requirements tightened. What began with Massachusetts’ 83% DLR mandate is now influencing legislation nationwide.
The implication is straightforward: insurance organizations that once spent 25–40% of premiums on administrative overhead now have closer to 17% to work with.
Manual workflows, paper claims, and 90-day provider onboarding cycles simply don’t fit inside that margin.
What Actually Changed in 2025
Over the past year, LightSpun customers didn’t just prepare for these changes—they operated through them.
Across our platform, partners:
- Reduced administrative costs by more than 50%
- Auto-adjudicated over 90% of claims
- Cut provider onboarding and credentialing timelines from 45–60 days to under one week
These aren’t projections or pilots. These are real outcomes from live operations running on LightSpun.
Scale That Matters
In 2025, LightSpun grew alongside our customers:
- We expanded our client base to include leading dental insurers and DSOs
- Increased annual recurring revenue by 7.5x
- Now support more than 175,000 dental providers on the platform
That scale matters. It means the automation you rely on is battle-tested across commercial and Medicaid plans, complex provider networks, and multi-state regulatory environments.
What We Accomplished This Year
To support that growth and complexity, we delivered several major milestones in 2025:
- Partnered with the American Dental Association to launch AI-powered credentialing, reducing onboarding from months to days
- Achieved full NCQA certification across all 11 verification services
- Raised $13M in Series A funding led by Brewer Lane to accelerate product development
- Earned HITRUST certification, the gold standard for healthcare data security
Each of these investments was made with one goal: helping our customers operate efficiently, compliantly, and at scale.
What We’re Focused on in 2026
Looking ahead, regulatory pressure isn’t slowing down. More states are expected to introduce DLR legislation, and compliance audits will continue to increase.
In 2026, LightSpun is doubling down on generative AI–driven automation to help customers:
- Meet evolving regulatory requirements
- Reduce administrative cost per claim, per provider, and per member interaction
- Expand automation into benefits administration, delegated credentialing, contact center operations, and real-time compliance reporting
Thank You
Thank you for trusting LightSpun with critical infrastructure at a pivotal moment for the industry. We’re excited about what we’ll continue to build together in 2026 and wish you and your teams a strong start to the new year.
